Given the recent rulings of the Supreme Court concerning the rights of states that have approved same sex marriage, we should urge congress to draft a bill dealing with same sex marriages in this country. This bill should reflect that every state must accept as valid and lawful any marriage between a same sex couple, and that the said couple is guaranteed their constitutional right to life liberty, and the pursuit of happiness--that same sex couples are guaranteed equal standing and equal rights under the law--that no state may pass legislation barring those rights.
