It is apparent that recent, important, decisions concerning veterans and active duty healthcare systems have failed. This is most likely due to the lack of understanding of the military healthcare needs by our elected officials. Few of our leaders in congress, senate, and executive branch have served in the military and therefore do not have the experience necessary to make important decisions concerning veterans, and active duty, healthcare programs. An easy way to quickly understand the military healthcare system is to participate in it. If our government leaders are required to utilize VA, Tricare insurance, and active/retired healthcare systems, perhaps they can then fully understand all the advantages and disadvantages of the system and then work to make meaningful improvements.
