It turns out that a "butt" dial or a kiddie "play" on your cell phone can cost you a lot of money. Currently, in our case, over $40. By the way, we will only learn about this next week when our bill finally arrives in the (snail) mail.
After speaking to a Verizon rep I was told specifically that it was enough for two-three presses on buttons to download apps and ringtones (incl approval of the purchase). This, to the best of my knowledge, is not specific to Verizon. Of course, you will not know about it until it is too late.
When signing up for a mobile phone plan, one is not told that apps can be downloaded so easily, in fact, in my case, I was told that these phones cannot even use data. How much do companies make from these charges? Simple fix: One must opt in for automatic deduction.
