Many households receive a painfully large amount of credit card offers every day. Because many of these offers include confidential information that can't safely be discarded into the trash or recycling bin, the average person concerned with identity theft must employ the use of a paper shredder. However, the mailers currently used by the credit companies are designed to force the consumer to open and leaf through to remove staples, glue, plastic fake credit cards, etc, to save their shredder from being destroyed in its first day of service.
We would like to request that reforms be enacted which would require any pre-screened credit offer to be detailed on a single sheet of plain 8.5x11 paper, in an envelope also constructed of plain paper, to allow for easy disposal with a shredder.
