The purpose of this petition is to change Dept. of Education policy regarding the inclusion of mandatory Cursive (Script) handwriting education in grade school curriculums.
A holistic, well balanced society starts with the basics of education that allow for the entire population to have access, via education, to personally experience Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. The growing conversion from traditional learning to technology based "replacement" learning is a fundamental part of a society that is dependent on the technology.
Our founding documents, written in "Script" are some of our most valued treasures as a country. If our students can't read them for themselves, then they will be dependent on translation or worse yet interpretation. Ignorance will fill the void.
