Americans have the right to access and enjoy the public lands administered by the agencies of the federal government. The implementation of the Motor Vehicle Use Plan of the US Forest Service closes access to millions of Americans.
The economic losses to the rural communities due to road closures will be measured in the millions of dollars. As the opportunities decrease for land access so do their associated dollars to an already struggling economic base.
As existing and historic roads are removed from the system, the increased opportunity of catastrophic fires becomes a reality. The public historically maintains vehicle access and unimpeded roadways allow earlier fire detection and more timely suppression by ground resources.
Repeal the Motor Vehicle Use Plan!
