Over the last few years it has come to light that numerous large for-profit colleges have committed fraud. Some have even been sued by the government be it federal or state and lost, yet were allowed to continue to do business. They are bankrupting our population through manipulation of federal loans, falsifying loan documents, tuition and fees totals, and job placement statistics. This has put hundreds of thousands of people into a never ending cycle of debt that started with a promise of a better future. Private for profit colleges lead the way with 50% of total loan defaults.
The Department of Education has allowed these corporations to continue to prey upon those seeking the American Dream. It should be made responsible to resolve the fallout of their actions.
