Full disclosure of voting totals received by members of Congress when talking to the media to accurately describe their respective voter mandate. For example, Senator McConnell was elected with 806K votes representing around 33% of Kentucky's electorate. Representative Boehner ran un-opposed in 2010 and garnered less than 300K votes. In total, they both received around 1 million votes. President Obama was re-elected with approximately 66 million votes. The media has equated McConnell's and Boehner's "mandate" as well as other members of Congress as being material when in fact their vote totals on a national level requires scientific notation to reflect how insignificant their "mandate" really is.
