The ways in which our police are selected, trained, supervised, and equipped, in every one of our communities, must entail the consent of those communities.
The police must be made accountable to the people, and that begins by making psych and drug testing mandatory for all police officers and requiring that all police precincts have a community oversight board with full access to all relevant internal police documents.
The blessings of liberty this country offers are imperiled by a growing mob of heavily armed, hyper-aggressive men who betray the public trust by making war on the people they are supposed to protect.
We request the President to take all possible measures to restore police accountability to the people, starting with the mandate called for by this petition.
