Require educational textbooks mentioning the invention of the telephone, to inform the significance of Antonio Meucci.

Created by J.B. on February 04, 2014

The goal of this petition is to inform anyone, including the children in schools who are learning a basic knowledge of history, that Alexander Gram Bell was not the true inventor of the idea of the telephone but stole the work of immigrant Antonio Meccui. Meccui designed what he called the "speaking telegraph" and after submitting his research to a Staten island lab in New York where his work was "lost" and where Alexander Bell happened to be working. A year later Alexander Bell patented what he called the "telephone." In 2002 the house of Representatives said that his work involving the invention of the telephone should be credited. Yet children are still taught that Alexander Bell created the telephone and Meccui's credit has been unrecognized.
