require elected officials to read the US Constitution and post a hand-written essay on what this document means to them.

Created by J.B. on January 01, 2013

This is a petition to require every person elected or appointed to a position in the Federal Government, regardless of party affiliation, to read the "Constitution for the united States of America" and then post on the internet, in their own handwriting, a ten (10) page essay on what the Constitution means to them. (Note: Their own handwriting is important to show the authenticity of their work.)

This petition is intended to apply equally to public servants in the legislature, judiciary, and executive branch and to both current and new office-holders.

The essay must be posted within one month of the start of employment and is to be accompanied by a legally binding oath or affidavit notarized and certifying that the essay is entirely the stated author's own work.
