When military personnel come home from long deployments, their spouses aren't able to spend a lot of time with them due to their work policies not allowing them to take leave. This petition would serve to give Federal Protection to these spouses so their employers would not be able to terminate, suspend, or punish them in any way so that they can have leave of at least five days to spend time with their newly returned spouse. This type of leave would be similar to maternity leave in that mothers and fathers needing to take care of their families during the transition period are able to do so without consequence.
