Just as all vehicles owners are required to carry insurance to provide financial protection against physical damage and/or bodily injury resulting from traffic collisions and against liability that could also arise therefrom, firearm owners should be required to do same to provide financial protection against physical damage and/or bodily injury resulting from firearm discharges and against liability that could also arise therefrom.
Insurance companies can determine the level of risk by type of firearm and the demographics and prior history of the firearm owner.
Firearm owners not carrying insurance would lose the ability to legally own a firearm and have hefty fines imposed (just as vehicle owners without insurance lose their license and are fined).
