Energy drink manufacturers especially tend to not reveal the composition of their "energy blend". Hiding this information prevents an educated consumer from making informed decisions about how much caffeine and other compounds they will be ingesting. This strikes me as profoundly unsafe.
Many people are unaware of the connection between their mood and the amounts of various compounds they ingested just hours earlier. But even if they tried to pay attention to it, they could not because the exact amounts are secret or unknown.
Maybe not everyone needs this information, and most chemicals are pretty safe, but if an educated consumer wants to take an active approach to their mental and physical health by minding what they eat and drink, they should be allowed to know what is in their food.
