Require federal elected officials to take and publish the results of the foreign service exam and U.S. Citizenship test.

Created by D.W. on November 15, 2012

Require all federal elected officials to take the United States Foreign Service Officer written examination and United States Naturalization Civics Test and make public the results.

A Newsweek poll published last year revealed that in a sample of 1,000 Americans, 38% would fail the US Naturalization Civics Test required for citizenship. The Foreign Service Officer Test is considered highly competitive, yet required in order to serve as a representative of the Department of State. No comparable test is required to hold elected office.

Our elected officials responsible for legislative decisions on issues both foreign and domestic should be able to pass both tests easily - and the public has a right to know whether our leaders can do so. An informed electorate needs an informed government.
