Require federal employees on official travel to rent hybrid or all-electric vehicles where available. Many federal employees rent a car at their travel destination for local transportation. This requirement would exert market demand on rental companies without creating a legislative mandate. It would encourage the spread of vehicle charging stations in cities where feds frequently travel. No legislation is required for this policy. It can be mandated by Executive Order. It will save travel money, and encourage wider availability of hybrid/all-electric vehicles.
