We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Require a Federal Minimum imprisonment of 1 year for all convicted sexual assualt and sexual abuse offenders in the US.

Created by N.M. on June 08, 2016

With the most recent, highly publicized, rape of a Stanford woman it has come to the attention of many that the sentencing of these crimes are too light. The defendants take away the livelihood of their victims, they take away their security, and sense of self worth. The victims will never forget what happened to them but the defendants won't care and will happily move on with their lives as if they did no wrong. Anything less than a year of imprisonment is an insult to all victims of sexual assualt and abuse. Though a year will never give back what was stolen from the victim it will be something the offender will be unlikely to forget. The punishment of such a heinous crime does not deserve lienancy, regardless of who the person may be, and all offenders should be prosecuted equally.
