The Second Amendment was designed to protect the citizens of the U.S. from the U.S. Government and allow for personal protection - and when necessary to protect against foreign invasions. Therefore, before the U.S. Government creates any further efforts at restricting personal ownership and restrictions on firearm use, ANY government entity should be disgorged of their possession of any firearm permanently.
Protection first must come for U.S. citizens from the entities most likely to harm them after the individual criminal element - and that is from government entities.
