Require the food industry to accurately detail nutrition information based on what's in a package and not by per serving

Created by J.A. on January 17, 2013

Food companies are misleading the public when concerning nutrition information.

A package of a well known noodle product lists the fat content at 18% per serving. Then it goes on to say that there are two servings per package.

The problem is the serving size is not accurate against how the product is packaged. The consumer is lead to believe that one package equals one serving based on the packaging.

Companies are intentionally misrepresent the serving sizes of their products in order to make them appear healthier. Instead they should be required to list the aggregate sum of nutrition values for the entire package if products are packaged individually.

They should not be allowed to package one cookie and say that it serves four people. Then print the nutrition info for one serving.
