Potassium Chloride is a salt substitute. It is increasingly being used in "low salt" processed foods, such as canned soups.
Unfortunately, Potassium Chloride has some potentially deadly side effects: it can cause cardiac arrest. Potassium Chloride was the chemical used by Jack Kevorkian in his "death machine."
How much of this product is in the food we eat? The food manufacturers claim it is a "proprietary" part of their recipe and won't divulge any information. For people with heart issues or whose potassium is already high die to medication, consuming one of these products could be lethal.
Because of the potential health risks, we respectfully ask the Obama administration to require a cautionary label on foods that contain this potentially deadly additive.
