Preserve the right to keep and bear arms, BUT adopt an insurance approach. Require gun owners to insure their firearms against death, injury, and damages resulting from a weapons discharge just as car owners are already required to insure their vehicles against similar events. The same level of responsibility and liability should be expected from gun owners.
Just as car insurance premiums are calculated based upon a variety of factors including the vehicle's make and model and the driver's training and certification, firearm insurance premiums would be similarly based upon a variety of factors including the firearm's make and model and the owner's training and certification.
