Require Gun Owners to Obtain Liability Insurance for Every Gun They Own

In the wake of all the tragic loss of life due to gun violence, in addition to petitions demanding stricter gun laws, and an improved mental health system, just like driving a car requires liability insurance, so should gun owners be required to purchase insurance for every firearm they own, retroactively. No one should be allowed to register a gun without insurance for it. No one should be allowed to carry a weapon without insurance. Mandatory insurance for every gun. There are too many instances, like Connecticut's tragedy on December 14, 2012, when someone other than a gun owner gets a hold of weapons and uses them to destroy others' lives. Insurance cannot bring back loved ones, but it can put pressure on individuals to limit the number of and safeguard the firearms they keep.
