Require guns to be registered in the same way the DMV requires cars

Created by G.C. on January 18, 2013

Instead of only needing to be registered once. Just like with your car, gun registration should be renewed every year or every other year. That would keep people from transferring them, legally or illegally. If it is legal, you should have to transfer a gun with a title just like we do with our cars.
In some states, if your vehicle registration expires, they want to know what happened to that car. Did you sell it, junk it, where is it?
The gun would no longer disappear after it is manufactured and purchased. If your gun is used in a violent crime, you could be held accountable/fined for not storing it properly.
Another step of this process that could be considered is to charge for registering certain guns, unless they are used for sporting/hunting. Those types of guns should not have fees.
