Transparency in the health care industry does not exist for the consumer. It seems that it is governed by the insurance industry and drug companies. Offering a pricing menu or estimate of rendered services gives consumers transparency and information to make better decisions about their health care options. Most individuals do not find out about costs until after the fact, which many times results in a negotiating game that would be completely avoidable. This is backwards compared to any other type of business and another reason why our Health Care System is broken. Providing up front costs/estimates helps the individual make better decisions and keeps providers honest and competitive.
