Require health care providers, including physicians, to give patients a list of charges for procedures.

Created by J.P. on January 28, 2013

Health care is the only industry where cash paying patients are charged more for a procedure than Medicare and patients with insurance. There are at least three levels of pricing for procedures, Medicare, insurance, and self-pay. Patients have a right to know these fees before treatment. Self pay patients should have the right to negotiate but can't because they don't know the price levels. All patients should be given a list of prices with a breakdown of pricing levels before having treatment.Fee transparency is a must if we are going to lower the cost of medicine to the consumer. The consumer has more information at their finger tips about auto pricing than they do about health care prices..
