Require health insurance companies to provide at least partial coverage for trans* related issues.

Created by K.C. on March 08, 2013

Trans* citizens of the United States deserve the same opportunity for health care coverage as the rest of America. As of right now, trans* related surgery/therapy treatments are not covered by most health insurance companies, making it difficult, if not impossible, for trans* people to get the medical attention they need. In a 2009 report done in California by the Transgender Law Center, it stated that transgender Californians were twice as likely to be living below the federal poverty line, and one-in-five survey respondents reported being homeless since they first began identifying as transgender. This is more than enough proof that without the help of insurance, trans* people most likely can't pay for their treatments without difficulty.
