Make it illegal for insurance companies to deny coverage to transgender patients who seek hormone replacement therapy, sex reassignment surgery, or other healthcare relating to gender. Denying coverage based on a person's gender identity is pure discrimination.
Most insurance companies cover estrogen for women, testosterone for men, and "cosmetic" reconstructive surgeries on the genitals of non-transgender men and women who have suffered disfiguring circumstances.
With this in mind, it should be considered blatant prejudice for the same treatments and coverages to be denied for people with gender dysphoria if both they and their personal physician believe it would alleviate emotional and psychological distress and improve quality of life.
