We believe children should not be penalized for being born with a disability. Without proper medical care and treatment a child's language and cognitive development will be significantly impaired. Statistically speaking, 3 out of every 1,000 children are hard of hearing or deaf and 30 school children per 1,000 have a hearing loss. If a child has a hearing loss and doesn’t get the interventions needed, he/she can cost the school systems an additional $420,000 - $1 million in special education costs over a lifetime.
