Remove the Loopholes. Require companies, businesses and insurers offer reasonable-cost benefits for all Autism/ASD (Diagnosis, Therapy, Medications, prescribed equipment, etc.) for citizens under the age of 18.
Companies and businesses are using exemptions from the federal level (mostly through the ERISA preemption) to opt out of covering Autism even when states have mandated coverage.
Getting children the therapy (ABA) and medications needed early in life greatly reduces or negates the impact Autism has creating a more productive society down the line.
The new Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5-May2013) categorizes the Autism spectrum and qualifies the conditions through tests. 1in88 have Autism now and the numbers are rising.
