Require Internships to be Paid

Created by J.O. on March 24, 2013

It is simply unjust for students to work, often on important company business, without any sort of monetary compensation. While unpaid internships are plentiful, many college students are unable to afford spending their days at an internship with no monetary compensation. We believe that unpaid internships take advantage of many college students' need for and dependency on internship experience in order to get a job after college. We acknowledge that many companies can not afford to provide payment for interns, and it may be possible to require that businesses with profits over a certain amount pay their interns. We believe that this issue is often overlooked and requires attention from the Obama administration.
