Legislators often exempt themselves from the laws they create, and that we as citizens are bound by. Two examples are "the affordable health care act, aka. Obamacare, and Diane Fienstien's "Assault weapons ban of 2013".
Laws are created by legislators that we elect, then exempt themselves from necessity to obey those laws. Legislators, as citizens of the U.S.A. should be bound by the same laws as non-elected officials.
