Require less emphasis on credit scores for families trying to secure mortgages with household incomes over $75,000

Created by M.C. on January 25, 2013

This petition is intended to require banks to put less emphasis on credit scores for families wanting to build or buy a new home. Many families have incomes that would allow them to be comfortable making payments on a new home, but due to issues during the recession, may have taken a hit to their credit score. Currently most banks require a minimum score of 620 to even consider a family for an FHA loan. That score requirement should be lowered to 550.
