I believe the public assistance system has been broken for some time. I have seen first hand the abuse and misuse of tax payer money by drug addicted members of the community. Having a welfare system that caters to drugs addicts that will never seek help, because we continue to subsidize their addiction is wrong. If a recipient fails a urine test, they should be required to seek addiction counseling. All forms of assistance should be granted to those who are free and clean of drugs. A few states have passed similar laws, but these laws have been halted due to civil liberty lawsuits. I feel that it's a slap in the face to hard working, tax paying Americans for our government to give our tax dollars to those who continually breaking the law.
