Today there are many media outlets parading themselves as legitimate sources of information for the common person, when in reality they are biased and routinely push their own platform. Programs that are not fact checked or are biased in some way have a constitutional right to operate, but should not be allowed to advertise themselves as a source of valid information. A free and open press is a key aspect to a functioning democracy, and faux news agencies blur the line between factual reporting and political pandering. A mandatory short but clear disclaimer at the beginning of opinionated segments that are not fact checked will help citizens discern between a news source providing evidence and allowing you to make a judgement, and one that tells you how to think.
