Freedom of speech allows news programs to publish falsehoods and misinformation and they are motivated to do this by profit. Sensational lies attract viewers.
The people of this country need information that is reliable. I recommend a system where a program must earn the right to be called "News" based on accuracy.
If a program wants to publish falsehoods, they can continue to do so but they should not be allowed to label themselves "News"
This should motivate programs that present the news to verify information prior to publication and publish only accurate, verifiable information.
We, the people, will know who should be taken seriously and who should be ignored.
