Media outlets place corporate objectives above public welfare by promoting the visibility of killers and generating notoriety that is counter to societal well-being. When a hate crime or domestic terror event results in the injury of death of citizens, the media should no longer provide constant coverage and recognition of the perpetrator. Instead, media should limit coverage of perpetrators/suspects and focus on support for victims and community. The goal is to reduce the establishing of notoriety for criminal behavior and to attempt to discourage those seeking visibility and to follow.
