require media/journalists not to publicly disclose the name(s) of the accused in the wake of school shootings

Created by S.I. on December 17, 2012

In the wake of the recent tragegy in Newton, CT, we call upon the media, journalists and the like to refrain from publicly disclosing the name of the accused/responsible party and any correspondingly details or background information applicable to the accused.

While recognizing the imporantance and validity of the first amendment and freedom of the press, it seems prudent at this time to enact a provision specifically limitting and prohibiting the identity disclosure of those guilty of such heinous crimes as one possible means by which to discourage future incidents.

Do not continue to provide a public platform for these indiviudals. They deserve to remain anonymous. They do not deserve our attention.
