Our Representatives should fulfill their promise to their constituents to be present for votes in Congress. Far too often Members of Congress are absent from voting.
For example, during Ron Paul's Presidential campaign, he was absent for an overwhelming majority of the votes that took place in the House of Representatives. We the People paid this man $174,000 this year and he often did not show up for work to vote on important issues. There are many other representatives who took similar inaction - research the issue for yourself.
We propose a Representative's or Senator's Office be considered vacant if a certain threshold of Absent votes is recorded. Such vacancy should trigger a special election to fill the Office with someone who will actually show up to represent their constituents.
