require members of the U.S. Congress to submit to random drug tests.

Created by C.F. on December 03, 2013

Recently many politicians have suggested measures for drug testing welfare recipients. Despite the lack of success, I believe the idea of drug testing may be reasonable for those who hold positions of great power and importance. Certainly being a member of the U.S. Congress is incredibly important and these members have access to sensitive information that others do not. Those in the military are drug tested, pilots are drug tested, teachers are drug tested... it seems to us that if all of those people must pass their drug tests to keep their jobs, then so should our elected representatives. We propose that all members of the U.S. Congress submit to random drug screenings. If a member fails once, it will be made public. If they fail again, they should be forced to resign and seek treatment
