In light of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary, gun control in this country must be revisited promptly so as to protect and preserve the rights of all persons living in this country. Improving the availability of mental health care is only part of the problem this country is currently faced with when it comes to "internal terrorism" or crimes against our own. Not all persons in legal possession of firearms are threatening; however, not all persons in possession of firearms are in so legally. As part of a multi-step process to combat a repeat of Sandy Hook, I propose that all persons wishing to own firearm(s) be required to pass a mental health screening every six (6) months so as to confirm the appropriateness of owning said firearm(s).
