Require Microsoft Corporation, of Redmond, Washington, to Continue Support of “Windows XP” Through 2020.

1. As of July, 2013, the Microsoft (“MS”) operating system “Windows XP” (XP”) is used in more than 37% of working computers. (Wikipedia: http://goo.gl/TGnf).
2. A major percentage of these computers can only run XP and are not technically able to be upgraded to run a newer version of Windows.
3. MS declares that it will stop supplying security updates to XP after April, 2014. As a result, owners of many thousands of computers will be forced to replace their PCs at great expense and to either recycle their PCs or toxically push them into landfills.
4. We, the undersigned, petition the President to establish and enforce a legal requirement that Microsoft either continue to make security updates for XP through 2020, or provide rebates and recycling for non-upgradeable XP computers.
