Major mobile carriers in the US (Verizon, AT&T) have systematically done away with unlimited data plans while simultaneously running advertisements promoting higher usage of networks and services with headlines such as, "More is better." Mobile carriers are monopolizing the market; taking advantage of their position, and gradually forcing customers to release their unlimited data plans, and into more expensive plans. Carriers offer unlimited minutes and messages to present a pretense of unlimited usage. Today's importance of internet access and usage is being capitalized on by said carriers. Despite ample resources to provide unlimited data, carriers are exploiting customers. "Cloud Computing" augments data usage, giving carriers even more of a grip on consumers. The monopoly must end.
