NASA is developing a next generation booster for the manned space program called the Space Launch System (SLS). SLS is intended for exploration beyond Earth's orbit. Boeing is the prime contractor.
Recently, Boeing announced that foreign subcontractors will manufacture major segments of the spacecraft in Germany and other countries.
We petition President Obama and Congress to require that American subcontractors be awarded contracts for the fabrication of all major components on SLS and the Orion crew capsule. We believe American taxpayer money should be utilized to employ Americans, and that all major systems of a federally-funded American rocket should be built domestically.
