In order to provide adequate financial support for custodial parents, it is vital for non-custodial parents, who are required to pay child support, to obtain and maintain gainful employment.
IE: According to North Carolina law, a parent who is required to pay child support without a job is only responsible to pay $50 a month.
By requiring non-custodial parents to gain employment, government spending for programs such as, welfare, food stamps, and medicaid, would be cut.
