Require officials elected to Congress to issue a public statement justifying each and every vote they cast.

Created by D.T. on March 25, 2013

We petition the White House to introduce legislation that would require all elected Congresspeople (Senators and Representatives) to immediately issue a public statement no less than 200 words explaining and justifying each and every vote they cast and why they voted the way they did.

This would introduce much-needed transparency and public accountability to the Congress similar to that provided by the Supreme Court Judiciary in the form of majority and dissenting opinions.

A potential co-sponsor for this legislation is U.S. Rep. Justin Amash, Michigan's Third District, who already does this voluntarily via his Facebook page.
