Many online companies require a sign up with payment information in order to use their services. Because of this, they are also able to use this payment information to charge the customer at any time as long as they get the customer to agree to a policy that allows them to do so. While many can argue the fact that people should read what they are agreeing to before signing up, there are situations where payments are not due for several months or even a year later. These companies know that there are a good number of people who will not remember that payment is due after a length of time and will automatically bill them without warning and pocket the money - even when they have not shown any recent activity and no longer use the service. This practice is unjust and should be stopped.
