The USA is of the opinion that we are the best among the world's industrialized countries, yet we have one of the WORST national policies on allowing our workers paid vacation time and paid holidays--NONE! We have no federal guidelines mandating paid holidays or paid vacation time.
I would like to see our government instate a policy mandating a minimum allowable amount of paid vacation time per year, as well as a minimum number of paid federal holidays such as Christmas, Labor Day, and the Fourth of July to name a few, for all US workers.
Many US employees do not earn any vacation time or extra pay for holidays at all, and even if company policy allows vacation many workers are never allowed to use that paid time off.
