A good percentage of the population of every state in the US goes to the polls on election day and really has no idea what or who they are voting for. Most don't even have a clear idea of how a republic works. These people directly put people into office who they think are going to do what is right for them. But they are wrong.
To combat this issue, I propose a test be put into place for anyone registering to vote in the US. A test of just basic government and politics. Only upon passing will the person registering actually be approved.
