Require pay increases for all elected officials to be approved by we the people.

Given the fact that anyone in the private sector would not get pay increases for job performance exhibited by our elected officials and given the fact that elected officials work for the people, no elected official should have the power to raise their own pay. Therefore, we petition the government to cease this practice and require all pay increases for elected officials to be placed on the public ballot just as any other issue requiring the input of the people. In addition, no petition by the government for pay increases should be entertained unless a balanced budget is in place at the time.
