Given Congress' recent performance we, the people, believe they do not deserve any further pay increases until they begin to work in a bipartisan manner in order to resolve national issues. The outright childish and irresponsible behavior of Congress is appalling and needs to be put to an end. They are our elected officials and should not have the ability to increase their own pay when they cannot even be bothered to come to an agreement over far more pressing matters.
Given these circumstances we believe that any pay increases for members of Congress should be required to be put to a popular vote. We feel this is a reasonable response to a Congress that chooses to put it's own pay rate ahead of the welfare of the people.
